I want to share a really important time in my life that I think is going to be valuable for you to hear...
Back in 2009, I was so completely burned out by the way I was practicing that I was completely ready to quit my profession as a chiropractor. After two years of working in a high volume health practice, where I was seeing patients every couple of minutes and making pennies on the dollar, I woke up to a style of practice that I completely hated.
Even worse, I thought it was the only way to practice, and this was a huge wakeup call after eight years of school and $150,000 of student debt. It drove me to a place that - despite all of that time and sacrifice I put in - I thought it's just not even worth it. Forget it I'll just find something else.
I went that far. I was that devastated. I literally went for my highest high in becoming a doctor and learning how to do what I want to do and take care of my patients...to my lowest low in two years.
And I share this with you because I think no matter what specific profession in the health & wellness industry you're in, we're seeing burnout becoming an epidemic in our industry.
I don't want what happened to me to happen to you. I don't want you to get to a point where you feel like you hate the way you're practicing so much that you want to give it up altogether.
Maybe you're at that point already, which is why you're here.
And I share this from a place of both really sucky personal experiences but also having now talked to people in the health & wellness industry who told me, "I just can't do this anymore. I can't I can't deal with this anymore. This is not the type of health practice that I want.
And I totally get it. The end of that 2-year period was a huge tipping point. I could have either said, "you know what I'm just going to forget it all and do something completely different..."
Or I could develop a different way to run a practice.
Secrets of Building a House Call Practice: Starting a House Call Practice That Works!
So I started a house call practice where I didn't have to feel like my day to day life is a rat race. I didn't have to feel like I'm starving, and I can barely pay the rent because I'm not making that much money. I no longer wanted to feel that I'm not even living a life because I'm living and breathing my practice so much I can't even do anything else outside of it.
I was losing myself.
So I figured out how I can build a health care practice that was the completely opposite of that by starting a house call practice.
And it allowed me to break away from all that nonsense stress of high volume and high overhead and that awful churn and burn that I think a lot of health & wellness professionals are dealing with today.
And I'm guessing that since you're here, it's something that you might be dealing with or maybe you're afraid you're going to deal with it.
